Service overview

The full picture, before you commit a penny.

What it is

A full-height, wall-to-wall built-in TV and fireplace feature: bespoke cabinetry, recessed TV housing, integrated electric fire, ambient LED lighting, and fully concealed cable and device management for consoles, sound bars and streaming boxes.

Who it's for

Homeowners across Newcastle, the North East, Surrey and Brighton wanting a living room feature wall that replaces the traditional fireplace, adds usable storage, and gives a cinema-standard TV experience.

When you need it

During a living room refresh, an open-plan extension, when replacing a dated fire surround, or when a mounted TV and trailing cables are visually dominating the space.

Why use a specialist

A media wall is the highest-impact single upgrade in a modern living room, it re-centres the room around a designed architectural feature, hides all the cables and boxes that make TVs look messy, and adds significant storage without shrinking the room.

The cost of getting it wrong

What happens when this job is rushed, cheapened, or ignored.

A TV bracketed to a bare wall with cables running down to a shelf is the visual centre of most UK living rooms, and it fights with every other design decision in the space. Everything you buy for the room has to work around it, and it still looks like it doesn't belong.

Risks & escalating costs

  • TVs mounted without in-wall cable routing leave visible trunking that ages the whole room.
  • Electric fires installed without proper ventilation clearances shorten the fire's life dramatically.
  • Overheating enclosed AV kit (Sky boxes, consoles) fails early and voids warranty.
  • Non-fused device outlets behind cabinetry are a fire risk and specifically excluded by insurers.
  • Cheap flat-pack media units sag under 65+ inch TVs and cannot support wall-mounted screens safely.

Common mistakes we fix

  • Sizing the media wall around the current TV, TVs get bigger; walls stay the same.
  • Skipping IR repeater planning, closed cabinet doors then block remote-control signals.
  • Choosing an electric fire before the wall is designed, clearances constrain the whole layout.
  • Under-specifying power, sound bars, consoles, streaming boxes and lighting all need dedicated sockets.
  • Painting the media wall the same colour as the room and losing the architectural feature entirely.

Why it's worth doing properly

Concrete outcomes, not generic promises.

Architectural, Not Decorative

A designed media wall re-centres the whole room around a considered architectural feature, every other decision in the space then works with it, not against it.

Every Cable Hidden

TV power, HDMI, sound bar, console, streaming box and LED cabling all routed inside the joinery, no visible trunking, no cable snakes.

Fire Installed To Clearances

Electric fires supplied and installed by our NICEIC electrician, with correct ventilation and clearances to combustible materials.

Storage You'll Actually Use

Base cabinets and open shelves add functional storage the room didn't have, usually replacing the visual space a chimney breast used to take up.

Rated To Hold 65"+ TVs

Wall backing plate specified and fitted to safely support large flat-screens, no sag, no risk to the wall, no cabinet flex.

On Site 3–5 Days

Most media walls are complete and commissioned within a working week, no long open project on your main living space.

The detail

Everything that goes into a Bridgeway media walls.

We build media walls in every configuration, from a single feature panel with recessed fire to a full wall-to-wall, floor-to-ceiling installation. Below is what we walk you through at design stage.

Fire options

Recessed electric fires (Dimplex, Celsi, Evonic and equivalents) in linear widths from 1000mm to 2000mm+. Flame-only or flame-plus-heat versions available. All run on 13A supply with no flue required.

TV integration

Recessed or flush wall-mounted; we spec the backing plate to your TV's weight and mount pattern. Cable routes for HDMI, power and optical are chased into the wall or hidden inside cabinetry, never trunked externally.

AV kit & sound bars

Ventilated cabinets for Sky, Apple TV, consoles and streaming devices; sound bar shelves sized to your model; IR repeater planning so remotes still work through closed doors.

Ambient LED lighting

Warm-white or RGBW LED accent behind TV and above cabinetry, on its own dimmable circuit. Turns a media wall into a proper cinema experience for movie nights.

Finishes & materials

Painted MDF (any RAL / Farrow & Ball), reeded and fluted panels, real-wood veneer, matt lacquer, stone-effect large-format tile, and back-painted glass. We recommend a contrasting finish to the room walls to preserve the feature.

Chimney-breast & alcove builds

Working with an existing chimney breast? We build the media wall around it, or remove the breast (with structural sign-off) for a flush feature wall. Both routes are common.
