Sliding vs hinged
Sliding doors save the floor-space needed for a hinged swing, critical in rooms under 3m wide. Hinged doors give 100% internal access at once and a wider material range. Both are viable; the layout usually decides it.

What it is
Made-to-measure sliding-door and hinged fitted wardrobes, built to the exact height, width and depth of your room, including scribing to skirting boards, ceiling coving and any wall bow or slope.
Who it's for
Homeowners in Newcastle, the North East, Surrey and Brighton who need serious storage in bedrooms, dressing rooms, landings, loft conversions and hallways, plus landlords upgrading rental storage to a durable long-life spec.
When you need it
When freestanding wardrobes don't fit, don't hold enough, or don't sit properly against a wall, or when you're refitting a bedroom, converting a loft, or reconfiguring a dressing area.
Why use a specialist
Fitted wardrobes make a room feel larger, not smaller: no visible gaps, no dead space above, no shadow lines down the side. And commercial-grade sliding tracks are engineered for a lifetime of daily use, the flat-pack alternatives derail within two years.
The cost of getting it wrong
The problem with freestanding wardrobes isn't the wardrobe, it's what you lose around it. Ceilings, alcove sides, floor gaps: that's storage you're paying mortgage on but not using. Compounded across a whole house, it's usually more space than a loft conversion would give you.
Our process
We measure floor, wall and ceiling, including any bow, slope or skirting profile, and discuss internal storage needs in detail.
Full 3D visuals showing doors, tracks, handles or handleless finish, internal drawers, hanging, shoe racks and integrated LED lighting.
One quote covering cabinetry, sliding-door system or hinged doors, internal fit-out, lighting and installation. Valid for three months.
Our in-house joiners install and scribe every unit on site. Typical single-wall runs are complete in 1–3 days.
Doors and drawers adjusted, lighting tested, snag list closed. One-year workmanship guarantee on the installation.
Why it's worth doing properly
Floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall design consistently gives significantly more usable capacity than freestanding wardrobes of the same footprint.
Roller and track systems rated for tens of thousands of open/close cycles, designed for a lifetime, not a two-year replacement cycle.
Hanging heights, drawer counts, shoe racks and trouser rails specified to what you actually own, not what a catalogue thought you owned.
Every unit is scribed to your exact wall, floor and ceiling profile. No visible gaps, no filler runs, no shadow lines.
Most single-run fitted wardrobes are installed and finished within a working week, no long open project on your bedroom.
Internal wardrobe lighting installed with a fused isolator by our NICEIC-approved electrician, safe, dimmable and correctly rated.
The detail
We install fitted wardrobes in every configuration, sliding, hinged, walk-in dressing rooms and awkward alcove runs. Below is what we walk you through at design stage.
Sliding doors save the floor-space needed for a hinged swing, critical in rooms under 3m wide. Hinged doors give 100% internal access at once and a wider material range. Both are viable; the layout usually decides it.
Painted MDF (RAL / Farrow & Ball), veneered timber, matt lacquer, gloss lacquer, mirror, tinted glass, and reeded/fluted panels. Handles or handleless. Combinations are common, mirror centre with painted flanks, for example.
Soft-close drawers, pull-out shoe racks, hanging (single and double height), trouser and tie racks, pull-down hanging rails, integrated LED, and jewellery inserts. Sized in millimetres to what you own.
Full L-shape or U-shape fit-outs, island units with drawers, seating benches, integrated mirrors and dedicated lighting circuits, designed as a single scheme rather than assembled from parts.
Sloping eaves are where bespoke earns its keep, every unit angled and scribed to the slope, with drawer runners front-mounted so nothing catches the ceiling line.
Robust carcasses, easy-clean finishes and drawer runners rated for daily abuse. Priced to make sense on a per-room yield basis and built to survive tenant turnover.
